stabilisation and reinforcement works in stone wall of historical building

The Problem

ASRS Ltd were contacted by Paignton Picture House who required a specification to restore the structural integrity of the masonry where cracking to the external and the internal of the propety and movement had occurred. We were one of many companies invited to be a big part of the recent Paignton Picture House project. The works were granted by Historic England and were funded £206,366 to repair the brickwork, stonework and windows of the building.

The Solution

We produced an appropriate repair scheme recommending the installation of Helifix crack stitches as a simple, effective and permanent solution, to tie in the cracked masonry.

Our highly skilled technicians installed continuous single bands of Helibar stainless steel crack reinforcing, installed horizontally across the existing cracks, offering substantial resistance to further cracking.

Helibar combined with Helibond produces an excellent bond within the substrate, allowing the masonry to remain flexible enough to accommodate natural building movement.

ASRS Ltd also recommended the installation of Helifix Cem Ties and Sockfix Anchors as simple, effective and permanent solution, to tie in and stabilise the cracked masonry as well as reducing further movement.

Our highly skilled technicians installed Cem Ties and Sockfix Anchors through the external masonry, offering substantial resistance to further cracking and movement.

Project Completion

We finished by raking out all existing cracks and injecting in thixotroptic cememtitious grout. We completed the repairs on time and within budget to the client’s satisfaction.
