front elevation of house after cavity wall tie installation

The Problem

ASRS Ltd were contacted by a residential customer who required a specification to restore the structural integrity of the masonry where cracking and cavity wall tie failure had occurred.

The Solution

Front Elevation and Rear Elevation

Front Elevation, Gable Elevation, Rear Elevation

We produced an appropriate repair scheme specifying the installation of new Helifix remedial wall ties as a simple, effective and permanent solution to reconnect the external masonry leaf of a cavity wall, back to the internal masonry leaf. With this we used a metal detector to mark the existing wall ties to allow us to isolate them with mastic/foam fill. This enabled us to install the new Helifix remedial wall ties. The remaining existing cracks are raked out and injected with thixotropic cementitious grout. The Helibeam system is then installed to distribute the structural loads, thus offering substantial resistance to further cracking and cavity wall tie failure.

In order for our highly skilled technicians to carry out the work, we had costed the job for labour and materials to be a cost effective method of structural repair.

Project Completion

We finished by making good all areas of mortar and brickwork disturbed by our installation. We completed the repairs on time and within budget to the client’s satisfaction.

The client received their completion letter and a standard 12-month warranty. Like all clients, they had the option to purchase a 10-year indemnified insurance-backed warranty, thus offering our clients with piece of mind and clarification.
