Norwich's most well-known public building is the City Hall. Built in the 1930s it is the city's foremost interwar building.
In 2003 ASRS installed Helifix masonry beams above the windows as part of the window replacement programme for the hall. The client was so happy with the result that in 2008 they commissioned ASRS to finish the rest of the building.
Masonry beams were installed to the full length of the walls, to distribute the structural loads and strengthen the masonry panels. This allowed the windows to be removed then replaced without any further movement to the brickwork. ASRS also carried out localised crack stitching and installed cross pinning ties to areas of cracking caused by thermal movement and lintel failure.
All of this work, combined with re-pointing and brick tinting left no visible trace of the installation and the historical aesthetic look of the building was maintained.
ASRS installed over half a mile of bar on this project, in less than 3 weeks including making good!
