The Challenge

ASRS were consulted to carry out a wall tie investigation to a large commercial property that had no obvious signs of movement other than one panel of masonry had leaned outwards 80mm at the top of the panel. After an extensive survey it was discovered the inner and outer leafs did not have sufficient wall ties to connect the two skins of masonry.

The Solution

ASRS carried out numerous tests and endoscope surveys to assess the existing ties. Pull out tests were carried out on various remedial wall ties and the Helifix resi-tie achieved the best pull out results achieving pull out ratings at over 2.5KN’s. The masonry was drilled only requiring a 12mm hole and the tie installed using portable drills and then resin fixed on the outer leaf.

With 10% of ties on each panel pull out tested to ensure that we were achieving an average pull out rating above 2.0KN’s at every stage. The holes were then filled and colour matched providing an invisible repair ASRS used articulated boom lifts and portable Easi Dec scaffolding to save the client vast amounts of money on traditional tube and clip scaffold with only one area requiring this method. The premises remained fully occupied throughout the process with out any disruption to the business.

The Result

The wall tie repairs were completed within the four week contract and all works were well within budget. The original aesthetics were restored and all works were backed by an indemnified 10 year guarantee.
